Epigonen is based on real people and sceneries. The setting is Tokyo, Japan, and it is during the rainy season.

The rainy season is a unique season in East Asia, between spring and summer.

This story is also very hot and heavy.

In the story, there are several quotations from Japanese writers of the Meiji era. The Meiji era was about 100 to 150 years ago, right after the demise of the samurai and ninja.
